Registration for Spring CTE Meeting

We are pleased to announce that the Spring CTE Director Meeting has been converted to a virtual meeting. To maximize our time together and enhance engagement, we will be presenting the meeting content across three days, June 2-4. We will utilize this time to continue working through Perkins V.

The virtual meeting will take place June 2-4, 2020 from 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. CST daily. You may view the agenda on the event website.

Registration will close on May 26 at 5 p.m. CST.

Minutes from February TDCTE Business Meeting

February 10, 2020

Renny Whittenbarger called the meeting to order. 

Bill Moss provided the Treasurer’s report. 

Clark Knight moved to accept the Treasurer’s report as presented and Richard Skipper provided the second.  Motion carried.

The Secretary’s report was available on the tables.  Renny called for members to review and for a motion to accept the minutes.  Steve Gibson moved to accept and Bill Moss seconded the motion. Motion carried.

New Business:

New CTE Introductions: Monroe County and CMCSS-Clarksville Montgomery

Report was given on the Legislative Breakfast on February 11, 2020 at 7:00am.  Governor Bill Lee and Commissioner Dr. Penny Schwinn will be guest speakers. Slideshow featuring CTE programs from around Tennessee is completed. Kudos were given to Arlette Robinson for completing the slideshow. 

Renny Whittenbarger provided dates for upcoming Meetings:

Spring – April 23 and 24. 2020 at the Sevierville Convention Center further information will be forthcoming.

Legislative Update was given by Bill Moss.  Mr. Moss outlined upcoming bills HB2504, 2509, SB 1953/HB1937 Career Aptitude Assessment. 

TACTE Update was given by Clark Knight: Clark discussed the Award Winners for the Pioneer and Trailblazer moving to the National Awards.  This year’s nominations are due in April.  Clark also discussed the National Vision in Tennessee in 2020, Perkins PD may be used, so may want to add to your Perkins Plan.

Bill Moss presented the pollution report with NO FINES. Renny fined Bill Moss $5 for retiring (effective June 30, 2020).

Recognition of Premier Sponsor-iCEV.  Lonnie Johnson presented encouraging words and Kelli Neuman provided information on industry certifications.

CTE Director Meetings

2020 CTE Director Winter Meeting

Registration is now open for the 2020 Winter CTE Director Meeting. The meeting will be held on Monday, Feb. 10, 2020, at the Scarritt Bennett Center in Nashville, TN. 

Registration options will include registration for the New CTE Director Academy, which will be on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020, from 1-4 p.m. in the multi-media room of the Tennessee tower. Click here to register. A link to hotel reservations will be included in your meeting registration confirmation email. The hotel reservation deadline is Jan. 8, 2020. Meeting registration is due Feb. 2, 2020. 
 
The Tennessee Directors of Career and Technical Education’s Legislative Breakfast will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020. For additional information about this event, please see related post.

The Tennessee Association of Career and Technical Education and the Tennessee Directors of Career and Technical Education cordially invite you to attend the 2020 Legislative Breakfast.

CTE Director Meetings

2019 Fall CTE Director Meeting

Please join us for the 2019 Fall CTE Director meeting to be held at the Music City Center in Nashville (in conjunction with the LEAD conference) on Tuesday, November 5 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., CST. Registration and breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. 

Registration and lodging information is available here. Detailed registration and payment instructions are below:  

New CTE Directors (0-3 years) 

  1. Choose new CTE directors (0-3 years) from the Registration Type drop-down list on the first page.  
  2. You will register for the full LEAD conference (including Tuesday’s Fall CTE Director meeting and the Wednesday New CTE Director Academy).  
  3. You will be asked to verify understanding of the substitution/cancellation/refund policy.  
  4. You will not be charged for the conference.  

CTE Directors  

  1. Choose CTE director (4+ years) from the Registration Type drop-down list on the first page.  
  2. Select one of the following:  
  3. Attending Tuesday only ($0) 
  4. Attending Full LEAD conference (current rate minus $130) 
  5. Select payment option 

NOTECTE directors also attending Wednesday and Thursday of LEAD will have $130 of their registration paid for by TN CTE. The registrant will be responsible for the remaining balance.  

LEAD Substitution/cancellation/refund policy for CTE Directors: If they do not cancel their registration by October 31, CTE will be charged for the $275/$130 for their cancelled registration. If CTE directors 4+ years register and pay to attend the rest of LEAD, and they do not substitute someone in their place, they will be refunded no more than 50% of the registration fee (25% after October 20).
